A tentative return & #sewingsanta

Hellooooooo...

*clears cobwebs, sweeps aside tumbleweed*

Well! That was a rather longer blogging break than I anticipated. It's been quite a while, no? I suppose my creative energies, what little they were to begin with, really have been completely otherwise occupied in gestating this small human, because I literally have not sewed a stitch since... I got pregnant, maybe? I lie, I definitely sewed a pillow case over the summer, but that hardly counts. Oh well, not too much longer of this whole growing-a-baby malarkey left, or so my increasingly heavy moon of a belly reassures me. Presumably there'll be a very cute new subject to sew all the adorable things for come January - I already have my inspiration lined up! And I hear looking after a newborn is extremely conducive to pursuing one's hobbies, what with all the maternity "holiday" and free time to yourself babies generally allow. (Or so my dearly beloved father-in-law seems to believe!) Lord knows when I'll actually be sewing for myself again - this late pregnancy body of mine is a hilarious, ridiculous, gloriously unwieldy and miraculous thing, but not one for which I can be bothered to sew. (Yep, I unashamedly threw money at it. Life is too short and I was too busy napping.)

But, I digress. I'm here to talk about Christmas, and more specifically the sewing present exchange organised by Lisa at Stitched Up From the Start. (Who is incidentally also very pregnant but has done much better than I at making cute and useful things for her imminent arrival.) You guys? I'm a joiner. This is already pretty obvious from the very existence of this blog, but I love a Secret Santa gift exchange above all else, so I was obviously all over this as soon as I heard about it. There are some rather fabulous sew-blogging ladies involved, as well as some intimidatingly wonderful sounding parcels winging their way out there already. Dear giftee of mine, be reassured that yours is finally put together, and wrapped nicely, and will be in the post as soon as I manage to waddle to the post office. (Much sooner than my next blog post will likely be published, I promise.)

I hope I'll be back soon as I've got some miniature knitting to share, and some embarrassingly late blog awards (ha!!! too kind!!!) to attend to. But until then, I hope the Festivus of Winterval leaves you in the best spirits, whatever form it may take in your neck of the woods.

  1. Welcome back! Having five pregnancies under my belt, I know how hard it is to find the energy to do much. Put your feet up over Christmas and let others take the strain:)

  4. Thank you so much for the prezzie! It is sitting tantalisingly under my Christmas tree now. My kids have stolen the jingle bells but I’m very much looking forward to seeing the rest of it! xx
